Patch Interpolation Using Edge-based Blending Function

چکیده
By introducing the edge-based blending function derived from the surface-based one, we can capture the e ects of the edges on the shape of the n-sided patch more directly. Because of the good natures of the edge-based blending function, the designers can manipulate it as well as the geometry of the boundary curves to design and modify the patch shape. In this paper, we have discussed the derivation of the edge-based blending function, its properties, especially the di erences between ones for odd-sided and for even-sided patches, and easiness of designing it by the users. We have demonstrated its validty by showing several triangular, rectangular, and pentagonal patchs using the modi able blending functions.

Transfinite surface interpolation over irregular n-sided domains
Transfinite surface interpolation is a classic topic of computer-aided geometric design (CAGD), and many non-quadrilateral schemes are known. Surfaces defined solely by means of their boundary curves and cross-tangent functions are needed, for example, in three-dimensional curve network-based design, and to fill complex irregular holes such as in vertex blending. This paper deals with interpola...
متن کاملConstruct Piecewise Hermite Interpolation Surface with Blending Methods
Three methods are proposed to construct a piecewise Hermite interpolation surface (PHIS), which is a piecewise algebraic surface interpolating a set of given points with associated normal directions. The surface is obtained by blending together some low-degree surface patches. Both the first and the second methods are completely local and give a surface with G-continuity. In the third construct...
متن کاملMorphing Using Curves and Shape Interpolation Techniques
This paper presents solutions to the feature correspondence and feature interpolation problems in image morphing. The user specifies the correspondence between the source and the target images by drawing input curves on the features of the objects. The correspondence between these curves at the finest level (pixel level) is computed by optimizing a cost function. Based on this correspondence, t...
متن کاملBlended deformable models
We develop a new class of parameterized models based on the linear interpolation of two parameterized shapes using a blending function. Using a small number of additional parameters, blending extends the coverage of shape primitives. In particular, it offers the ability to construct shapes whose genus can change. Blended models are incorporated into our physics-based shape estimation framework ...
متن کاملA smooth manifold based construction of approximating lofted surfaces
We present a new method for constructing a smooth (theoretically C) manifold approximating a curve network or control mesh. In our two-step method, smooth vertex patches are initially defined by extrapolating and then blending a univariate or bivariate surface representation. Each face is then constructed by blending together the segments of each vertex patch corresponding to the face corners. ...
